Cut anything. Answer to no one.
This is a Cricut® Expression that’s been set free. We wiped the cloud-locked
factory firmware off it and flashed our own — KillCric, open firmware that turns it
into a real grbl CNC vinyl cutter. No Cricut account. No cartridges. No Design Space.
No monthly subscription, ever. Just a 24-inch cutter, a USB cable, and free software.
Every one is flashed and cut-tested by hand before it ships.
Why it beats a stock Cricut
- No cloud, no account, no subscription. It runs on your PC and the machine itself — nothing to log into, nothing to expire.
- Free software. It speaks grbl 1.1 over a normal USB serial port, so it drives straight from gSender or LightBurn like any hobby CNC.
- Design anywhere. Make cut files in LightBurn, Inkscape, or any SVG/g-code tool — you’re not locked to one app.
- Cuts real material. Adhesive vinyl, heat-transfer vinyl (HTV), sticker & label paper, cardstock, stencil film and more, with the drag knife.
- Big bed. The Expression takes a full 12 × 24 inch mat — banners, big decals, long runs.
- Real controls on the machine. Jog, set your zero anywhere, home, pick a material preset, even type g-code — all from the front panel and on-board OLED screen.
What you can make
Car decals, laptop and tumbler stickers, shirt and hoodie HTV, business signage, wall quotes,
stencils, labels, planner die-cuts — anything you’d cut on a name-brand machine, minus the
walled garden. Start a side hustle without feeding a subscription.

Condition & support
This is a refurbished, reflashed machine — a used Cricut Expression given a
second life as an open cutter. It’s cosmetically used (light wear, may have marks) but
mechanically sound and cut-tested before shipping. Because the factory firmware is
gone, it no longer uses Cricut Design Space or cartridges and carries no manufacturer warranty —
that’s the whole point. You get a 30-day working guarantee from us, a written setup
guide, and email support to get your first cut going. Full docs, feature list, and how-to for every
mode live at the KillCric project page.
Who it’s for
Makers, sign shops, Etsy/craft sellers, hackers, and anyone who wants a capable 24-inch cutter they
actually own — no login, no cloud, no fees. If you can run free CNC software, you can run this.
Cricut® is a trademark of Provo Craft & Novelty, Inc. KillCric is an independent open-firmware
project and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or supported by Cricut/Provo Craft. This machine has been
modified; it no longer runs Cricut software.
